Dwayne Johnson says he doesn’t want real guns on set after the Baldwin tragedy

After actor Alec Baldwin accidentally killed a cinematographer on a film set in New Mexico last month, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson said he wouldn’t use real guns again on his movies.

A bullet discharged from the gun Baldwin was using to rehearse a scene on the set of Western movie “Rust” killed Halyna Hutchins on October 21.

A director had told Baldwin that the gun was “cold”, which is an industry term meaning it was safe to use.

Ahead of the premiere of his new Netflix blockbuster ‘Red Notice’ with co-stars Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, Johnson said his production company Seven Bucks Productions would “never use real guns again.”

He said, “That was a terrible situation that happened. I’ve known Alec (Baldwin) for many, many years. He is a good friend of mine, and my heart goes out to all the families involved in that incident.

I can’t speak for other production companies, I can’t speak for other studios, but what I can tell you is that this has given us a new perspective on how we can operate moving forward,” Johnson told Reuters.
